
5.14 Use a variety of instructional practices to motivate and engage students in reading.


For this concept I decided to use a book tasting to allow students to experience different genres of books. At each take there was a different genre that students would get a turn to 'taste'. My CT as well as myself noticed that some of the students in class were continue to check out the same book series over and over again. So we decided to engage and encourage students to try other genres and series as well with this book tasting. It was very themed and the students absolutely loved it. Each table had a faux candle center piece and place setting. My CT and I also wore chef hats and aprons while french cafe music played in the background. The students were so engaged and interested from the second they walking into class. We do ELA first thing in the morning. The students were so
